The Barry YMCA gymnastics programme follows the guidelines of the Welsh and British Gymnastics Associations and is endorsed by GymMark quality assurance. Barry YMCA is also recognised by the British Olympic Association as a training venue for top level gymnasts.
The YMCA offers full youth programme from pre-school level up to boys and girls of competitive levels in both artistic and rhythmic gymnastics.

The goal of the YMCA is to help each child build self confidence, develop co-ordination and strength and create a positive self image. To help each child achieve their highest potential, proper skill progressions are used and safety is our number one concern. Each child will receive lasting benefits from participation in this programme, whether or not he or she reaches advanced levels or uses their acquired skills in other sporting activities.
How quickly your child will progress through the levels depends upon their age, strength, flexibility, body type and determination. Your child will be regularly reviewed by an ongoing evaluation program, which allows students to advance to the next level when they are ready. We encourage parents to keep up to date with gymnasts progress.
Our fully equipped YMCA regulation gymnasium includes, asymmetric bars, three high beams and one floor beam, two high rings, two sets of low rings, a pommel horse, two sets of parallel bars, a high bar and training bar over pit, a trampoline, a vault table and runway, a tumble track and sprung floor.
